Location of Exhibit
The location of this exhibit is an important component to its inspirational and educational impact.
The First CineMakers will be a permanent installation and key design element of AbelCine’s new flagship location,
opening at Brooklyn’s Industry City in the beginning of 2018.
The campus also includes food courts, meeting places, galleries and common use spaces designed to bring community together.
Industry City is a vibrant five-acre campus that is home to over 400 companies across media, tech, design, fashion, art and manufacturing.
The learning point @ abelcine
AbelCine Learning Points, currently in NY, Chicago and LA, provide ongoing, hands-on technical training to production professionals and aspiring creatives, and are purpose-built to the needs and objectives of their respective markets.
These are active, flexible spaces where technology, craft, and education come together - the ideal environment for content creators of all levels, including institutions, film schools and media organizations, to most appreciate the elements of the First CineMakers exhibit.
The curator of the Malkames Collection, Rick Malkames, carries on the tradition of maintaining his grandfather, Don Malkames’ and father, Karl Malkames' motion picture camera collection and preserving their history. Rick is a third-generation cinematographer, an IATSE and SMPTE member and Emmy Award recipient.
